Research Interests:
My project will continue monitoring restored Olympia oyster beds in Upper Newport Bay as a part of a “living shorelines” project. I am exploring the effects of human visitation on the ability of the restored beds to grow and self-maintain. In addition, I am studying how the height and consolidation of Olympia oyster beds influences upshore sedimentation and therefore how well they provide the ecosystem service of shoreline stabilization.
